The papers contain letters to Lucy Howard Brown Childs especially from John William Childs but including one from Edward Christian Glass; and correspondence of Childs in the 1960s and 1970s regarding his interest in Randolph Macon College, Casanova, the Middle East, genealogy, and the writing and attempted publishing of his memoirs "Brave music of a distant drum." Of interest is a copy of a letter to Warren Beatty regarding John Reed and Louise Bryant. Drafts of Brave music ... are included as well as drafts of a short story, some essays, and his recollections of Marcelle de Jouvenal. There are photographs of Childs, his wife Georgine, his mother-in-law, and his travels. Printed material including Randolph Macon publicity, greeting cards, mailings, clippings, newsletters, dealers catalogs, itineraries, and The memoirs and letters of Charlotte Elizabeth Young complete the collection. Correspondents include Peter A. Iseman, Jacob K. Javits, Marco Leeflang, Robert Daniel Murphy, Hugh Scott, and Luther W. White.
